Hi,
there is an implicit option for selecting the default bootmode
-DASK_BOOT=3 - Ask "Boot from Network or from Local? " at startup,
timeout after n seconds (0 = no timeout); this
can be done in a more generic way by using the
IMAGE_MENU, but it requires that the "bootp"
server is accessible, even when booting locally.
-DANS_DEFAULT=ANS_LOCAL
- Assume Network to previous question
(alternative: ANS_NETWORK) on timeout or Return key
See etherboot.h for prompt and answer strings.
I don't know the behavior when there is no bootable hd/fd, but this is the option
closest to your needs, if you asume normal local-boot for 99% of time. But it has no
'automatic' net-boot if local hd/fd is unavailable.

Hi,
I used 3 PCs booting off an alpha with the netboot.roms.
As reprogramming the EPROM every time you change the PCI-setup
suxx, I changed over to etherboot.
Problem:
With netboot, the system tried to boot over network if there
is no bootable drive in the system.
I need exactly this behaviour, but etherboot seems to boot no
matter what HD/Disk was bootable.
(I allready tried -DEMERGENCYDISKBOOT, but this seems not to be
the "look for bootable devices first"-option of netboot. )
Any option to fix this ???
bye
