There are a whole bunch of things, that can go wrong with installing an EPROM on a NIC. I would suggest that you download a copy of etherboot-3.2 from http://www.syd.dit.csiro.au/staff/ken/personal/etherboot/index.html Then install and run "rom-scan". This program will try to find all installed ROM extensions and will let you know about possible conflicts. Let us know, what "rom-scan" outputs.
