Yes, because parallel port adaptors don't need initialisation like the PCMCIA controller does. Two ways I can see: Forget the pocket adaptor and use a Laplink cable with PLIP and steal some idea from the RedHat kickstart method. I think it's either already supported in RH or someone's hacked it to. Check the freshmeat.net archives. Use a packet driver and Netboot.
