Hello! I'am trying to boot a Siemens Nixdorf PCD-5L (PHOENIX 4.04 BIOS) over network. It works fine with a floppy with image.flo on it, but I can't manage to get the computer to run boot code on EPROM. I have tried ISA 3c509 with netboot 7.3, 8.0, 8.1 and etherboot 4.0; PCI D-Link DFE500TX (tulip chipset) with netboot 7.3. With netboot I have tried both with and without "Do you want the bootrom to look for boot drives first". The DFE500TX works fine with Award-BIOS. I have a 3c509 with a commercial bootrom (Lanworks bootware 1.11) and the computer execute that boot-code perfectly! Does anybody know how to get Phoenix 4.04 execute bootrom from netboot or etherboot? If not, is it possible to put the boot-code from etherboot or netboot on a hard disc? Get LILO to load image.flo?... I have a couple of 80MB HDs that could be used as swap and bootloader if that is possible. If someone can help me with this, I can use 12 Pentium 100MHz as diskless (or possible with swap) Linux-boxes. Then I get rid of 12 windows 3.1 installations, and that would be real nice! /Erik S ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Erik Starbäck, System administrator E-mail address: erik@math.uu.se Uppsala University Telephone (o): +46 18 4713277 Department of Mathematics Cellular phone: +46 70 4250260 P.
