Dear Michael, for the bootrom-size problem try the checkrom utility of netboot. This tool is very simple to handle and gives you alot of hints. I would do the following: Plug in your 8k eprom again and start your PC from the checkrom disk. type n ( the find command ). If the bootrom is found, check the size and if the checksum is valid or invalid. With the X command you can dump the memory and verify the location of your prom. I can imagine 3 Errors that result in the effect you decribed: 1) No prom found check your card for the memoryarea. remove the card and check the memory to be sure that there is not already a system rom. prom found, size ok, checksum invalid this says that the beginning of the prom is ok. because of the checksum error it is ignored ( not started). think of : 2) your prom has an error, trhis causes the checksum to fail 3) your card has a memory adress problem. use the x command to check: does the dump starts with 55 AA ?? it has to. can you see all of the data over the hole range or is say, only the lower 4k of your eprom ok followed by ff´s or 00´s of the second half ? this should give you a hint what your card is doing and why the pc does not execute it. greetings, sr =========================================================================== This Mail was sent to netboot mailing list by: RunkelEdv@t-online.de (Runkel-EDV) To get help about this list, send a mail with 'help' as the only string in it's body to majordomo@baghira.han.de.
