A reply to my own mail! I found a work-around, if I configure one too many eth's in dhcpd.conf then all is well. I guess there is a '<' where there should be a '<=' somewhere in the netboot code? So it all works now for me, with a dummy eth sent out to the booting machine, which it doesn't use but it does configure the last ethernet card I need. A bug?
