NILO is developped not dedicated to any OS netbooting. However there are dependencies to the Ethernet harware card which NILO tries to hide for the OS'es. So the OS could use that trick by using the same interface (API) in its drivers. If not the downloaded OS should know how to figure out the needed HW driver (or use it staticly). So far no FreeBSD dependencies. The first OS Ethernetcard drivers which are prepaired in the tests is Linux with it's Linux drivers. These drivers do not differ much from the FreeBSD ones. So the job to get the right drivers in FreeBSD is not difficult. Conclusion: there are two ways to look at it: 1. do not use the NILO Ethernet part: "any" OS can be downloaded and made runnable (see also BpBatch from University of Geneva 2. one could use the PXE interface in the downloaded OS: sample driver for Linux is becoming available. You need to tune it a little bit for FreeBSD W're happy to pick this up if someone is working on that part. teus hagen NLnet Foundation, sponsoring the NILO project Sebastien Maraux wrote: > Nobody answered me the last time :( > I'd like to know if NILO will support FreeBSD netbooting??? > Thanks > Bye > Seb > > =========================================================================== > This Mail was sent to netboot mailing list by: > Sebastien Maraux <smaraux@cpc.westminster.ac.uk> > To get help about this list, send a mail with 'help' as the only string in > it's body to majordomo@baghira.han.de.
