Has anyone solved the problem of using an NFS root for a diskless client that wants to use NIS when both the client and server are running RedHat 6.0 (or maybe just the server running 2.2 kernel)? The problem is when ypbind is run on the client it exits saying it is already running but the PID it lists is its own PID!. I did a dejanews search and it seems that this is caused by the NFS server replying with incorrect/unexpected info about the PID of the locker of a file which fools ypbind into thinking it is already running. Here's a dejenews ref which describes the problem better: http://x38.deja.com/=dnc/[ST_rn=ps]/getdoc.xp?AN=461887452&CONTEXT=929815431.176750663&hitnum=2 RedHat do not seem to have a bug entered for this on their bug list and I have no idea where to start looking to see if there is a 2.2 kernel fix for it. PS. Is there an easy way to search the entire netboot mailing list archive (or failing that an easy way to download all the messages)?
