Hi! From: Barton Hodges <barton@gcmcomputers.com> > Then, the kernel started to load and went crazy. Numbers scrolled > by on the screen non-stop. It never completely loaded. > Is this because I don't have my root filesystem in the correct place? The kernel will be booted _after_ it was loaded completely. You will see errors about root-nfs later from the kernel in an accurate manner. The start of the kernel looks just normal: "Uncompressing, booting, calibrating whatever-loops, something about bogomips, etc." And: You dont need bootp in the kernel. The bootrom does this. > If I recall correctly, the mknbi-linux app said the root was > located somehwhere else. If > it can be changed when compiling the kernel...then where? You change the root-dev with mknbi-linux. But: the kernel prints a lot of lines, before trying to mount root and it will tell you, if this fails. Your Problem: The kernel is never started, because transfering/loading does not succseed.
