Hi all,
Is there anybody how has any experience in remote-booting a several
diskless(!) linux-PC´s from a WinNT-Station? I think the main problem will

(similiar) thing?Norbert
Why booting Linux from WinNT, why not from Linux? I just have only successfully experience with booting diskless Linux-PC from a Linux-PC.
Yes, the main Problem may be NFS on NT machine.
And how can WinNT understand somethings like "symbolic links", Unix
file permission such as -rwsr-xr-x?
To run Linux-PC as X-Terminal you must have a Linux or Unix server in your network as application server. Only that your Linux box can do just only a little bit in console (text mode).
- A modern good Linux base system without X-Server and X-Application takes place about 120 MB of disk space (Red Hat 6.0, with network and daemons such as inetd, telnetd, etc.). Of course, you can put its Root filesystem on a Linux server and boot it from network. You can sit at diskless client, login into it, login into server, or you can login from any allowed hosts into it too.
- Linux as an X-Terminal can have its Root filesystem about 25 MB. Login at server with XDM. You sit at diskless workstation but you login at server.
And when you have a Linux or Unix server in your network, why don't
you make them for booting Linux-PC from such a server. It may be much more
easier.
