Hi, >I've just install bootp, tftp, and NFS and all work fine, but I've problems >to build a root filesystem for my client ( the trickiest part of the setup I >guess ! ). I've download a small distribution of i386 linux : Linux-EMbedded >and downloaded it in /tftpboot/my_client_name but it doesn't work, although >all the required files are here. So, here is my question : how know files >required by linux and how configuring them ? If your kernel allready tries to mount the root-system, but then it locks up somewhere, I can help: - Use a diskbased linux from the server to generate a client linux. Copying the /dev/ is somewhat tricky, but works. - In /etc you edit fstab to make a nfs-root your /. - You try a boot and look, what initfile causes the lockup. (Sometimes the fsck-part or the netsetup-part.) Remove these parts and it should work . bye =========================================================================== This Mail was sent to netboot mailing list by: Thomas Huber <judas@rz.fh-augsburg.de> To get help about this list, send a mail with 'help' as the only string in it's body to majordomo@baghira.han.de.
