WIN95 has always been possible...one can refer to http://cuiwww.unige.ch/info/pc/remote-boot/howto.html for more info on how to do it. WIN98 has not been done off Linux, yet, to my knowledge. From NT, yes, it has been done - by Lanworks and by Qualystems in France. What is the procedure to start windows/dos on the client with the >bootsector/ramdisk image on the server? Same as for Linux images, put it where the tftp server can serve it to the client. All the other steps are the same. >Before jumping into it I would just like to know if there is any foolproof >theory to suggest that this idea of remote booting win 95/98 from a linux >server is just not possible? It apparently is possible but it seems you have to use a Netware export for the root disk since Netbios over TCP/IP cannot serve root disks. So that means Samba can't be used for the root disk. If anybody knows different, tell the list. I don't go near Windoze at all. =========================================================================== This Mail was sent to netboot mailing list by: Ken Yap <ken@nlc.net.au> To get help about this list, send a mail with 'help' as the only string in it's body to majordomo@baghira.han.de.
