Hi Jim, > When the chip is in the card, the PC starts to boot, then after testing > memory, the screen clears and it starts the POST again. It just > continues > this forever. It is doing this on two different systems. On a third This is the "standard" evidence of the ROM-mapping bug in the 3c905b card. The file "3c90x.txt" in the Etherboot distribution explains the solution used by Etherboot -- it involves booting the machine from the diskette image of the ROM first, which resets a configuration register on the 3c905b so that the ROM-mapping bug is worked around. Once that is done, the machine should work normally, until 3c90xcfg is run and the transceiver type changed back to a "normal" value (for some reason on the 3c905b the transceiver type setting affects the mapping of the ROM....)
