BOOTP worked, then TFTP, then I got the netboot startup banner, then a weird message about how BOOTP response was too big. Then it immediately rebooted and started all over again. Turned out that I left out the gateway field in /etc/bootptab file and this was screwing netboot somehow. I'll get in and have a look at netboot later to find out why this happens. Maybe this is your problem? The only other suggestion I have is that maybe you forgot to use mknbi-linux to "wrap" your kernel image into a NBI (network boot image).
