Dann,

I got this message with LUI as well.  Like Ken
asked, 'Is you kernel tagged?'  When building the
kernel, running "make menuconfig" I had to:

Loadable modue support -> Turn off
Networking Options => kernel level autoconfiguration -> Turn ON
                     BOOTP -> Turn On
File Systems => Network-file-sytems => File system support =>
                Root file system on NFS -> Turn ON
