The 3Com 3C905C-TXM card and the Intel EEPRO100+ cards both have onboard Flash memory, which you can program using utility programs. In the Etherboot source distribution (available at http://etherboot.sourceforge.net) are tools and instructions that describe how to program those cards. You can program them with Netboot or Etherboot ROM code. You may want to use a floppy disk first to test network booting before getting a fancy ethernet card. I hope this helps you.
