Gero, Let me start off by saying thanks for your continued efforts. I completely understand your reasons for not trying to support something that seemingly doesn't want to be supported. It isn't like Microsoft is calling you up and providing assistance to you or anything.....in fact, the information I assume is not even available. I apologize for my lack of expertise, but I do have just a few questions in reference to this issue. First, I noticed that 3com has a product called 3com Virtual LAN drive which appears to allow PXE compliant boot ROMS the capability to completely map a virtual drive to a drive image file on the server, then allowing for WinNT/2K to be installed. I don't know if this is in fact true or not true, but maybe somebody on this maillist has used the product and has some comments that others may be interested in hearing. So just out of curiosity, is it the RAM drive that causes problems, since it uses memory that an operating system might want? I'm just curious what the different is between for example a network boot bios and a SCSI boot BIOS. However, I lack even the knowledge to have any right to even ask this question, so feel free to ignore it! :) Hey, I'm interested in how everything works, but I have not a clue where to start here. :) Thanks again! That's because nobody except me has actually written a bootloader yet, and I personally will not support Win2K or Windows NT, because I'm not interested in those and don't have any licences for those systems. If there is anybody who really wants to write a boot loader for any of these Microsoft systems, please feel free to contact me for futher information. I know about someone presently working on a loader for NetBSD. However, Unix is much easier to suppport because it is much more open - even the commercial Unices. For systems like Windows-NT you probably have to figure out how the boot process works by using a debugger. gero. -- Gero Kuhlmann eMail: gero@gkminix.han.de Groote Gracht 33 Tollenbrink 18 Tel.
