From: narf@eidolon.speakeasy.org (FT14) To: netboot@baghira.han.de Subject: DEC 21140 Reply-to: narf@muppetlabs.com newbie (to the list) alert... I have a linux X terminal that I made from a 3c509 card, the etherboot stuff, and an old clunker '486. I'm using /initrd. I put /dev, /etc, /var, and /tmp on a 300K minix ramdisk. My NFS partition is exported read-only. This setup _rules_, by the way. Kudos to all. Works great but I have the need for speed... Any word out there on a boot EPROM for DEC 21140 (or other?) TULIP chips? <ken@nlc.net.au> said he'd write one if he got a card. I saw a BayNetworks card at MicroCenter last week with that chip for $29.95 (cheaper than 10 Mb ISA cards!). It had no socket but there were pads and I can solder... I will gladly mail one off in exchange for a driver... I can burn my own EPROMS, but I am too busy to write a driver. Or if there is another cheap 100 Mb card with a driver... I am interested in booting MS Win 95 also (yuck), if anyone has any sage advice...
