First of all, it only maps 8kB. So you will probably have to use a compressed image file (*.lzrom). Secondly, regardless of what you put into the EPROM, the last two bytes will always be mapped as 0x8080. Passing the -3 option to makerom takes these things into account. The 3c503.lzrom image that comes with etherboot-4.0 has already been suitably modified.
