This is a request.
It appears Etherboot uses the "next-server"
parameter from the DHCP server to point the client in the direction of the
TFTP server. Most commercially available DHCP servers to not know how to
pass this parameter to the client. This is unfortunate, but it makes
Etherboot unuseable in many situations where it would be great. It is also
interesting to note that PXE does not use the "next-server"
parameter.
It would be REALLY wonderful if Etherboot could
have a modification that makes it default to the DHCP server for TFTP requests
if the "next-server" parameter is not passed, or have a selectable parameter at
compile-time to use the same address for TFTP requests.
This would be very very useful - I could use
Etherboot in a large number of workstations in my organization if it had this
capability.
Thanks,
Dave...
